Description

Verbascum thapsus

A beautiful, soft tall growing (up to 1.5m in 2nd year) biennial. It forms a rosette in the first year followed by a tall yellow flower spike in the 2nd year. It isnt very fussy about where it grows, but does need a lot of light.

In herbalism this plant is traditionally used as a tonic for the lungs and respiratory system. It soothes the lungs, coughs and congestion in the lungs and ears. It also has an affinity for supporting glands in the body and sore throats.

The leaves and flowers can be dried or used to make a fresh herbal infusion. It can also be used to make a tincture, compress or infused oil.
