Description
Tanacetum parthenium
A bushy perennial with daisy like flowers and strong smelling leaves, which grows up to 1m tall. It prefers full sun and a well drained soil.
In herbal medicine this has been used in modern times as a remedy for migraines and headaches. It was traditionally used for fevers and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. Not recommended during pregnancy.
The leaves have a very bitter aromatic flavor making it more challenging to use as a herbal tea. Small amounts of this herb could be blended with other more tasting herbs like mint or lemonbalm, or it could be made into a tincture. A fresh leaf a day is recommended for treating migraines.
