Foeniculum vulgare
Is a perennial herb that can grow quite tall (2m) and bushy too under optimal conditions. It prefers a damper soil and lots of light, but isn't too fussy.
Fennel is a traditional digestive tonic for relieving flatulence and colic and aiding the digestive process. It can increase breast milk production and also ease coughs and calm the lungs.
The fresh leaves and seeds make a delicious tea and can also be used in culinary preparations like adding the leaves to salads or seeds to stews.
