Description
Eschscholzia californica
This is a beautiful orange flowering hardy annual. It grows to about 30cm and can be quite bushy and prefers full sun and a well drained soil. It can also be grown in a pot and will keep flowering if you pick the flowers. The seeds can be saved from the long ripe seed pods in the autumn.
This is a traditional remedy to relax the body and mind and help with sleep and pain relief. It is related to poppy, but doesn't contain opium and is non-addictive.
The flowers and leaves can be made into a tea or tincture, or dried for later use.
