Bergamot

Monarda fistulosa

Aromatic perennial that grows up to 60cm and spreads 45cm with purple flowers that are attractive to bees. It likes a moist, rich soil and some shade.

In herbal medicine it is quite spicy and stimulating and used for supporting the immune system in colds and flus. Antisceptic for sore throats. It also supports digestion in a similar way to thyme and sage.

Make into a spicy warming tea or dry for later use.
